Somewhat frazzled author and hired motorhome

Not my usual type of post I know, but I thought I’d share with you…

Our Recent Motorhome Rental Experience As First Timers!

Day 1 — Taxi driver drops us off at the wrong RV hire place, (even though I gave him the exact street address). This meant that we wasted a half hour waiting for our turn to be seen, only to be told we were at the wrong place. So we then had to walk to the actual hire place a few hundred yards away.

- Got sorted with an almost brand new 6 man motorhome, (only 6k on the clock), and set off to Kuranda for a bit of a look around. (We had decided to do a circle around the tablelands up here in Queensland for our 5 day trip).

- On arriving in Kuranda village around lunch time, we reached the top of a steep hill, where we had to stop at a T-Junction. Traffic queued up behind us. Released handbrake to set off and WARNING! Emergency Brake Failure! flashes up on the dashboard screen and the vehicle would not move forward or reverse. Just locked up solid.

Turned engine off and on again, (always the solution surely?) No joy. Even more traffic is now queued up behind us and a friendly passer-by starts waving them to go around us. This is getting a bit fraught now.
